About the Event

"Of meads and Flowers" highlights the development of "gardening" before the Elizabethan period. It introduces the notion of land management on a large scale (together with the social development of the time such as the creation of urban centres) to the inception of gardens used for production and pleasure, both physical and spiritual. We will look briefly at the symbolism hidden behind some of the landscaping and plants used in these gardens. Finally, we'll get an introduction to monastic gardens by looking at their structure and uses. Photograph is a Madonna Lily taken by Nathalie Mignotte.
